INTRO TO FILM PRODUCTION

APRIL 29TH, 2019 | 9 AM-12 PM Cost: $ 185 EC LA BOUCAN CREATIVE CENTER with Leslie Ann Wills-Caton, FixerFilm Studios

Leslie Ann Wills Caton is a film and event professional with over 10 years in the entertainment industry as a fixer and manager. She is the Managing Director of a film and event production company called FIXERfilm Studios in Trinidad and Tobago which provides logistical and administrative services for the film industry and offers film management from pre-production to post-production. 

Ms. Wills-Caton has worked on over 12 feature films including ‘Green Days ByThe River’ [2016], 'The Cutlass’ [2016], 'Home Again'[2012], ‘Play The Devil ‘[2015], ‘Bazodee’ [2015], and 'Girlfriends Getaway'[2014], several commercials, short films and other digital media productions all in an administrative and management capacity.

Together, you will cover:

  • Making films within “A” budget, with a concentration on micro-budgets

  • Basic script breakdown techniques

  • Scheduling / Budgeting, and much more.

CROWDFUNDING & PITCHING

APRIL 29TH, 2019 | 5:30 PM-7:30PM Cost: $ 185 EC LA BOUCAN CREATIVE CENTER with Christina Raia, Seed & Spark

Christina Raia is the Head of Education and Outreach with Seed & Spark. She is a prolific filmmaker, founder of both the NYC shorts screening series IndieWorks and the inclusive production company CongestedCat. Most recent feature, About a Donkey. crowdfunded on Seed&Spark and headed for the film fest circuit. Films have screened at Outfest, Rhode Island Int’l, Coney Island + more.

Fave topics: experimenting with film mediums and genre, creating the film community you want to see.

Together, you will cover:

  • How to find your audience,

  • How to structure your crowdfunding campaign,

  • How to pick the right goal and incentives, and much more.

INTRO SCRIPT WRITING & STORY

DEVELOPMENT

MAY 2ND, 2019 | 9 AM-1 PM Cost: $ 185 EC LA BOUCAN CREATIVE CENTER with Stacia Yearwood

Stacia Yearwood is an unabashedly curious writer, filmmaker, and educator from the beautiful twin-island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. With a penchant for literary and literal rambling, she divides her time between storytelling and scanning cyberspace for the next travel opportunity. Stacia has advanced degrees in Comparative Literature, Creative Writing and Literary Journalism, and Film Production and has guided writing students online and offline for the last 15 years. She is a published author and founder of the empathic writing service I Hope This Message Finds You Well.

As part of 12N.61W Grenadian Film Festival's first Story Development and Scriptwriting Workshop, she will guide you through the essentials of story and script development. Together, you will cover:

  • What Makes A Story?

  • Getting Clear on Your Idea: Brainstorming and Semantic Mapping

  • Building Character & The Hero's Journey 

  • Putting it All Together: Beats, Pacing and Structure
