The 1261GFF destination festival experience
May 2nd-9th, 2020
Marks the second annual 12°N61°W Grenadian Film Festival (1261GFF), a destination filmmakers festival based on the Caribbean Island of Grenada.
The festival's unique name "12°N61°W" pulls from the geographical location of the island.
Our inaugural festival this year showcased a staggering lineup of fifty (50) films -8 feature-length and 42 short films- from around the world, drawing attention to Black experiences and culture globally. Thirteen (13) countries were represented, with several films making Grenadian and Regional premieres.
Almost 40% percent of the films programmed came from female filmmakers. The Children Matinee and Teen Program constituted approximately 35% percent of the films. The Breaking Barriers/ LGBTQ program accounted for about 10%, which was co-hosted by GrenChap. Sixteen (16) percent of the films featured were produced in Grenada or featured Grenadian artist/content creators both in front and behind the camera.
What unified us is the power of storytelling and our love for filmmaking, even from far away places & radically different cultures, BEYOND BOUNDARIES. Find out more.
