The Crossing is written and directed by Alicia Walker (Jamaica) and Jadyn Roberts (Trinidad), and introduces Grenadian actors Sabrina Francis and René De Riggs in their first on-screen roles. The film highlights emerging women’s voices in Caribbean cinema while showcasing new talent from Grenada.

WHAT IS SHECREATES?
A New Space for Caribbean Women to Lead, Create, and Transform Storytelling
SheCreates Caribbean Lab is a groundbreaking 12-week hybrid residency placing Caribbean women at the forefront of storytelling innovation.
Built for emerging and mid-career creatives, this lab blends film, immersive media, and AI-powered tools with deep cultural roots and mentorship from global and regional leaders.
As a member of the first cohort, you’re not just joining a program—you’re helping to shape the future of immersive Caribbean cinema and storytelling.

WHO CAN APPLY
SheCreates is open to women who are:
- 21 years or older 
- Based in the Caribbean or part of the Caribbean diaspora 
- Working in film, TV, or digital media (directors, writers, editors, producers, cinematographers, or other creatives) 
- With 2+ years of experience or a creative portfolio 
- Comfortable using digital tools (Zoom, Google Drive, etc.) 
- Fluent in English or able to follow English-language instruction 
- Curious about new formats like AI and immersive storytelling (no prior experience required) 
If you’re ready to explore new creative frontiers, this lab is for you.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
📚 Phase 1: Foundations
(Weeks 1–5 · Virtual)
Develop your project idea with the support of virtual workshops, mentorship, and AI storytelling tools like ChatGPT and Runway.
🌴 Phase 2: Residency in Grenada
(Weeks 6–7 · In-Person)
Work hands-on in Grenada to bring your concept to life with guidance from mentors, local creatives, and your cohort.
🎥 Phase 3: Post-Production & Showcase
(Weeks 8–12 · Virtual + Festival)
Complete and refine your project, craft your marketing or festival strategy. Present at the 1261 Grenada Film Festival.

      All sessions will be conducted in English, so you must be able to speak and understand English comfortably. You do not need to be fluent in French. 
- 
      
      You don’t need to be an expert, but you should be comfortable using technology and open to trying new tools. We'll provide guidance and support throughout the program. 
- 
      
      Both. We welcome applications from fiction, nonfiction, experimental, and hybrid filmmakers. 
- 
      
      There is no cost to apply, and the program is partially funded. We cover shared housing in Grenada during the in-person residency. Non-Grenadian participants will need to cover the cost of their flights to and from Grenada. 
- 
      
      You must be available for the full 12-week program, including all virtual sessions and the two-week in-person residency. Expect to spend about 5–8 hours per week during the online phase. 
- 
      
      No. This is an individual application process. Participants will be paired during the program to co-direct their projects.
