Kyla Sylvers is an actress, writer, and producer who currently resides in NYC. In 2017, she co-founded Melanin & Magic Productions in the hopes of putting black women’s voices in the forefront of their own narrative. So far, the company has done just that. With their award winning short, The Black Banshee, which Kyla co-starred in, produced, and wrote; acclaimed short, The Way Out, which Kyla starred in and co-produced; and well received web series Finding Our Way, which Kyla wrote, produced, and co-starred in; Kyla is finding her way in an industry that wasn’t necessarily created for her to succeed. She’s bending genres, taking risks, and making stories her way. Next up is a half hour sci-fi comedy, a dystopian sci-fi short, and a feature length sci-fi comedy about our education system. She’s excited to keep expanding and keep subverting the expectation of what black women can do in this business and in this world.
