The 12°N,61°W Film Festival (1261 Film Festival) produced by the Mprojekts Creative Group, Gnd, today announces its official program selections for the 3rd edition of the 1261 Film Festival. Award-winning Canadian Film Mixed↑ (MixedUp) Documentary by  Director  HAUI, aka Howard J Davis, will open the Festival.   The Sailor, filmed in Grenada, Carriacou by director Lucia Kašová, will be this year’s closing film.  The 1261 Film Festival runs ONLINE from November 2 - 7, 2021.

The 2021 slate includes 46 films representing (21) countries - including a high contingent of titles by Caribbean filmmakers or about the Caribbean experiences;   Becoming a Queen by director Chris Strikes, The Forgotten Boys by director Alexandra Warne, TOL, by the director(s) Dylan Attelly, Jérémy Gravinay, Joëllia Rose, Stephen Martingoulet, Madame Pipi by director Rachelle Salnave, and Stateless by director Michèle Stephenson.  Despite the pandemic, the quality of films submitted this year was really of high quality, said Meschida Philip, Festival Director.

The festival will stream with a full programme of movies, Q&As, masterclasses and industry events. Thanks to a UNESCO Participation Programme Award,  funds will be used to support our online 1261 Cinema platform, allowing the festival to reach a wider range of audiences.

"Attending 1261FF is always an adventure: the tropical locations, the weather, and the culture are just some of the unique elements people look forward to experiencing," said executive director Meschida Philip. "We were really hoping to have another hybrid festival, but understood that the pandemic is ongoing, so we also prepared for just about anything this year. Hence once covid-19 cases increased in Grenada, we pivoted 100% online.”

We are full of gratitude and anticipation to welcome our audiences and filmmakers for the third year to indulge in fantastic cinematic works created by our storytellers throughout the Caribbean, African Diaspora, and Continental.   We invite everyone to join us online at the 1261 Cinema Village from the safety of their homes on November 2nd, 2021.   Check out the 2021 Program Lineup and Schedule here.

To attend, participants can get an All-Access Pass, or a Virtual Day Pass to receive access to the online 1261 Cinema at www. 1261filmfestival.com or email info@1261filmfestival.com.  For Press Accreditation or to arrange interviews with Filmmakers email media@1261filmfestival.com.
