Season 8 In Focus:12°N, 61°W Grenada Film Festival
The 12°N, 61°W Grenada Film Festival returns October 18–25, 2026, and we are beginning to unveil this year’s program.
Presented under the theme ROOTS: What We Inherit, Season 8 draws inspiration from the Grenada Revolution and its continuing place in the collective memory of Grenadians at home and across the diaspora. With the Grenada National Trust's endorsement, we reaffirm our commitment to celebrating cultural identity, heritage, and the stories that connect generations and communities.
The theme opens a wider exploration of what we inherit through family, culture, migration, community, and the places we call home. By uniting cinematic stories from Grenada, the Caribbean, and beyond, we invite audiences to see reflections of themselves on screen while discovering new perspectives beyond our shores.
We're proud to champion a diverse, independent lineup of stories in Grenada, spanning narrative shorts and features, documentaries, animation, experimental work, and music-driven storytelling for our official program. As we finalize the full schedule, here's a first look at a few of the confirmed titles:

On Nevis, a spirited girl defies her mother’s disapproval and a male-dominated pan tradition to master steel pan and earn a place onstage and in her musician father’s heart.

What to Expect!
Season 8 opens with Grenada Night on October 18—a celebration of the many ways Grenadians see themselves and experience home. From Jab Jab and traditional practices to contemporary stories and the rhythms of daily life, Grenada Night amplifies Grenadian filmmakers and creative voices while sharing the island’s culture and heritage with local, diasporic, and international audiences.
In keeping with this year’s theme, selected retrospective screenings of specially invited films about the Grenada Revolution, including documentaries, survivor testimony, and archival work, will be followed by community conversations. These sessions will create space for reflection and dialogue around this significant chapter of Grenada’s history.
Community programming throughout the festival will create further opportunities for audiences to meet filmmakers, exchange ideas, and build connections through a shared appreciation of cinema, culture, and storytelling.
“We want this year to feel welcoming, engaging and connected to the people we serve; there will be something that speaks to everyone,” said Erica Alexis, Festival Coordinator.
More than a series of screenings, the festival is a meeting place, connecting Grenada with the Caribbean and the wider world through stories that inspire cultural pride, curiosity and discovery.
